Barbie bondage

Another beautiful evening with the ladies. Reflecting on the chapter 3 of the devotional, we talked about how our image of beauty is influenced heavily by the media. We get a lot of conflicting messages about what true beauty is and most often than not, the image portrayed is one that is not achievable. But God has created each and everyone of us wonderfully. Breaking out of that barbie bondage means carving out time each day to hear God speak to our hearts and tell us the truth of who we really are.

We give Thanks always….

Downtown Churches Walk against Hunger.

Downtown Churches Walk against Hunger.

We’ve had a few meetings since the tea party and started exploring the devotional “His Princess Girl Talk with God: Love Letters and Devotions for Young Women” by Sheri Rose Shepherd. We are currently on chapter 2 “Our true identity” comes from God and not from created things as friends, material wealth, popularity, sports.

The princesses participated in the “Walk against hunger” on November 16th as well as the “Night of Recollection” at St John in Dinwiddie.

The princesses are thinking of offering babysitting services for a few hours on a Saturday in December to our parish families. We’ll work out the details in the following weeks.

BTW Naomi, one of our princesses turned 18 this month. Happy Birthday Naomi!

Tea Party

It was such a perfect day for a tea party! The Daughters of the King spent a lovely afternoon at tea hosted by our dearest Deebe. The setting was elegant and the food dainty! We read the story of the lost princess from the book “Becoming the Woman God made you to be” by Tammy Evvard.  How we all forget that we belong to the King. We believe the lies about our true identity and settle for what the world around us imposes on us. Yet the King never stops looking for us. He never tires nor does He grow weary in His search for us. O what joy it is to know we belong to Him! We fortified ourselves with these biblical verses:

True Beauty

1 peter 3: 3-4

Your adornment should not be an external one: braiding the hair, wearing gold jewelry, or dressing in fine clothes, but rather the hidden character of the heart, expressed in the imperishable beauty of a gentle and calm disposition, which is precious in the sight of God.

Proverbs 31: 25-26, 30

She is clothed with strength and dignity, and laughs at the days to come. She opens her mouth in wisdom; kindly instruction is on her tongue. Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting; the woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

Positive and holy thoughts

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Wisdom 7: 22-29

for Wisdom, the artisan of all, taught me. For in her is a spirit intelligent, holy, unique, Manifold, subtle, agile, clear, unstained, certain, Never harmful, loving the good, keen, unhampered, beneficent, kindly, Firm, secure, tranquil, all-powerful, all-seeing, And pervading all spirits, though they be intelligent, pure and very subtle. For Wisdom is mobile beyond all motion, and she penetrates and pervades all things by reason of her purity. For she is a breath of the might of God and a pure emanation of the glory of the Almighty; therefore nothing defiled can enter into her. For she is the reflection of eternal light, the spotless mirror of the power of God, the image of his goodness. Although she is one, she can do all things,

and she renews everything while herself perduring; Passing into holy souls from age to age, she produces friends of God and prophets. For God loves nothing so much as the one who dwells with Wisdom. For she is fairer than the sun and surpasses every constellation of the stars. Compared to light, she is found more radiant;

BTW we celebrated yet another birthday last week. Happy birthday Lianne!

Count down to our tea party

We are one week away to our tea party and so very excited! We were all encouraged to lift each other up and to be real sisters to each other after listening to a talk by Sarah Swafford on “Building True Sisterhood”.

Our tiaras are almost done for our tea party. You should have seen how much fun it was as we spray painted and put glitter on these laces. We found our inspiration for the tiaras on pinterest

And guess what, we had another birthday to celebrate, our dearest Elizabeth was all smiles as we wished her a happy birthday with brownies made by Erica! Happy birthday Elizabeth!

Our next meeting is movie night….

First meeting 2 birthdays

Happy birthday Erica and Melody! October102013_bdaycake

We know we are blessed when 2 birthdays fall on the same week as our first meeting for this season!

What a blast it was to catch up with the daughters of the king from last season, Brianna, Naomi, Martina, Melody, Erica, Isi and the new daughter of the king, Elizabeth.

Our theme song “Gold” by Britt Nicole reminds us of how beautiful each one of us is and worth more than gold.

We are all revved up for the upcoming tea party on October 26th, with tiaras and all.

Oh what a banquet our Lord prepares for us!!!
